The New Normal

"This is the new normal, you need to accept that" she said, not unkindly but stern enough to make me pay attention.

I was about to have another freak out, because everything is changing and I was so overwhelmed. We were in the Sunday school room of our new church plant - back in my old church building with my new church family.

A good friend moving inter-state, a new church with new possibilities and responsibilities, flatmates moving back to Canada.

There's a choice; give into the overwhelming feeling that things aren't as they use to be and I hate it when I can't predict and can't control the change around me.
Or I can make plans and strategies to manage how the changes will impact me.

I wasn't happy with how she said it, but I agreed. This is the new normal. Embrace it. Have your freak out, then pick yourself up and get started on what's happening now. Look back with fond memories instead of wistful longing. I won't always do that everyday, but we're getting there :)

And remind myself everyday that no matter what changes, God is still here and He never changes. He is always part of how ever many new normals there will be.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (1 Peter 5:7, NLT)
