Teacher Erin

Week 1, done! Totally exhausted. I can't quite believe it, but I have my first week of teaching under my belt.

I lie in bed when I should be sleeping thinking and thinking. I think I have about 5 to-do lists on the go with ideas of things I want to try.

The craziest thing I have found so far is reminding myself that I am actually a teacher. I still get a little surprised when parents ask me questions - I'm so use to being the casual/student who everyone pretends doesn't exists.
Of course it's a huge learning curve. My list of questions that I wrote up last night is almost as long as the combined to-do lists.

Welcome to the world of teaching ... now try and slow your brain down long enough to enjoy the rest of your week-end.

Hi there Erin,
Yep it's a non stop mental workout with no relief on weekends. I spend my time reading resource books, trawling opshops, feeling inadequate when I look at the ideas and photos posted by the lovely ladies from Irresistible ideas fpbl (only joking you are inspiring) and drinking a fair whack of sav blanc (naturally in my own time). Where are you based?

HI Erin,
I am with you on the brain not being able to stop. I dream my work. I am constantly looking at hard waste on the side of the street and contemplating whether I can use it somehow at work, I worry constantly about how to extend on ideas, I live for the school hols but spend them reading resource books.... I have worked in this industry for 15 years but only just finished my degree last year. Where are you based?

Donna; I have enjoyed not having to get out of bed as soon as I wake up - but my brain is still spinning :)

Michelle; don't worry, I've done a few double comments in my time.

I know what you mean, I've only done one week so far, but I feel like I never switch off from the job. I went into the hardware shop yesterday and I spent half an hour seeing all these things that would be great in my class. Will have to be careful not to spend all my money!!

I working in North-West Sydney, Australia. Don't want to get more specific for obvious reasons :)
